Christian Baptism (Part 2) – The Meaning of the word “Baptism”

by | Dec 12, 2011

The words “baptism” and “baptize” are common in Greek literature and are used in the Old Testament, the Gospels, and the New Testament. Baptism applies to contact with a substance like water, oil, blood, or even honey. In Scripture, it is either by water, as done by John the Baptist, or by holy spirit, as occurred on the Day of Pentecost and after.
