Session 40 examines the vivid imagery employed by God to warn His people of the coming destruction of Jerusalem, and the death or captivity of its inhabitants. A series of kings, their councilors, and most of the people refuse to believe and repent. The result that follows is wave after wave of conquest, with talented and capable people being carried off to Babylon, until eventually only the poorest in the land remain.
