This teaching provides a powerful example of a believer standing in the gap with the record of Nabal and his wife, Abigail, in the Old Testament. Abigail wisely intervened, or stood in the gap, between Nabal’s foolish behavior and David’s rash reaction to it, changing the entire outcome of the situation.
