REV Commentary on Colossians 3:12

“put on.” The Greek means to put on as clothes, or apparel, thus, “to dress,” and the middle voice indicates that we are to clothe ourselves. We have free will, and if we are going to be like Christ by being compassionate, kind, humble, etc., we have to make a diligent effort. We can pray all we want to for God to make us like Christ, and He will help, but we have to do a lot of work also.
