What’s the difference between “pleasing God” and “obeying God?” There are many things that God does not specifically command us to do that we can do out of love, respect, or kindness that please God. When Paul wrote that he made it his aim to please God, he meant that he was always on the lookout for ways to go above and beyond simple obedience, and do things that would actually be pleasing to God.
