Known in Judaism as “The Shema,” Deuteronomy 6:4 has been the centerpiece of Jewish prayer services for thousands of years and declares that “Yahweh is our God, Yahweh is one.” “One” in Hebrew is echad and in 960 uses in the Hebrew Bible it has no hint of being a compound unity inferring a godhead.
