Luke and Matthew on the Birth of Christ
Both Matthew and Luke have important information on the birth of Christ. The Old Testament contained information about both the forerunner of the Messiah and the Messiah himself. However, there was information missing in the Old Testament that needed to be given for the players involved to understand their part in the births and ministries of John and Jesus. To remedy that, angels intervened and gave Zechariah (the father of John the Baptist), and Mary, and Joseph important details that were not in the Old Testament.
