David—Growing with God
David was anointed as king of Israel not long after Samuel told Saul that God had rejected him from being king. Saul, however, did not accept that God had chosen someone else to be king. The record of 1 Samuel 15-19 is like a back-and-forth between the downward spiral King Saul was in and the upward spiral that David was in, portraying many lessons about life and dealing with unkind and evil people in the text.
