Colossians 1: The New Creation

Although Colossians 1:15-20 is often cited to support Jesus as God and a participant in the Genesis creation, looking at the context and teaching of Paul shows that it is describing a new creation being created in connection with Jesus Christ. Additionally, Jesus is distinguished from God consistently in Colossians 1, thus, it is not teaching that Jesus is God. Paul wrote this beautiful monologue about the exalted Christ because the Colossian Christians were being led astray from the simple good news of Christ.
