Beginning the passion narrative, a woman anoints Jesus in Bethany, foreshadowing his forthcoming death and burial. Her devotion is then contrasted with Judas’ betrayal. Jesus shares the Last Supper with his disciples where he institutes the ceremony of Communion, teaching about the symbolism of the bread and wine in relation to his body and blood in the new covenant. Despite bold claims, Jesus predicts that his disciples will desert him. This session highlights foreknowledge, covenant fulfillment, and the emotional weight that Jesus experienced in Gethsemane.
