Caesarea Philippi was a lush geographical location caused by a spring coming from the nearby mountainous area. In this lovely location Peter identified Jesus as the Christ. A short time later, on Mt. Hermon, Jesus, Peter, James, and John experienced the event known as the “transfiguration.” This event prepared Jesus for his sacrificial crucifixion.
