The scriptures tell us that as a result of Solomon’s abandoning God in his heart, the Kingdom of Israel was divided in two: the Northern Kingdom, Israel, and the Southern Kingdom, Judah. Though God would bless obedience, both kingdoms fell to sin. The Northern Kingdom under Jeroboam fell to idolatry, while the Southern Kingdom under Rehoboam fell to cruelty and unwise advice.
